Born in Oxford, Ben Collins is an aspiring musician and composer currently studying at the University of York. His works include the symphonic poem, Entrepierres (2024), Scherzo for Trumpet and Orchestra (2025) and Wondering (2025), premiered by the Grove Wind Quintet at Magdalen College in Oxford. Alongside his classical compositions, he also wrote the soundtrack to the indie game 'Nightmare Jumper.'

As a pianist, Ben Collins is exploring a variety of new and 20th century compositions, ranging from Ravel's Sonatine to Michael Finnissy's Gershwin Arrangements. He achieved an ARSM Diploma in Piano in 2025, and was a semi-finalist in the London International Chopin Competition in 2024. He has been a clarinetist with the Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra for three years, giving concerts in the UK and France, including at the Royal Albert Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall.

Ben Collins is a keen member of the University of York Clarinet Choir, conducting several of their performances, as well as writing new music and arrangements to be played by the ensemble. He was also principal clarinet with the University of York Symphony Orchestra, featuring the UK premiere of Charlotte Sohy's Symphony in C-sharp minor. 

This year, he has joined the piano ensemble at the university, who are set to perform his latest work 'This place, for me.'

Currently, Ben Collins is working on a multi-movement clarinet concerto, which blends elements of the neo-romanticism heard in Entrepierres, with early modernist techniques. This progress is being documented on his social platforms.

He is also working on editing and arranging the score for the Oxford Playhouse production of Sherlock Holmes, directed by Will Edwards and Alex Thomas.
